ICS STRATEGIES
The main emphasis in any ICS is to disengage whenever possible. However, this is not always possible. On these occasions the main strategy is to engage your attacker for the shortest time possible. In other words - get in and out as quickly as possible.
The rationale behind this is based upon the recognition that a fight has different dimensions. What starts out as a verbal confrontation may escalate to pushing and then punching. This may then go to the ground and involve grappling. Ultimately it may escalate to a weapon being used.
Therefore, the longer you engage an attacker the greater the risk of the confrontation changing dimensions.
